Battlefield Bad Company 2 written review
This review is written in the form of an essay, I have a video review on my youtube channel.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 is the sequal to Battlefiled Bad Company and is the 8th game in the Battlefield series. Battlefield Bad Company 2 has a plot driven single player in addition to the highly reviewed multiplayer. Battlefield 1942 (the first Battlefield game) was very highly reviewed, many sequals like Battlefield Desert Combat, Battlefield Vietnam, Battlefield 2142, etc. Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, the first Battlefiled on xbox 360, it was poorly reviewed but sold many copies since it was one of the first shooters on xbox 360. In 2007, Battlefield Bad Company came out on Xbox 360. It was highly reviewd by both critics and gamers alike. For the first time, it was a plot driven game with the multiplayer mode. Battlefield Bad Company 2 also had some never before seen features. Battlefield Bad Company 2 was, for the first time, rated M for mature, this is one of the two battlefield games to have blood effects, but mostly for mature language. But it was not a contreversal title, like it’s compettitor, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.
Gameplay: Battlefield Bad Company 2 plays just like the Battlefield Bad Company, first person, destructable buildings, etc. Bad Company 2 is definitley an improvment. Your gun will shake when you move your character and you feel the controler shake when you sprint. These and the fully destructable buildings help make this game much more imerrsive than similar games. The weapons are also great. You are armed with a variety of guns to choose from. You can also use a knife if you are in close quaters. The single player was my favorite part of the game. It was fairly long, I beat it in about nine hours. But during the multiplayer, you can choose from several loadouts. My personal favorite loadout was the medic, you have a heavy mchine gun, smoke grenades, and shock paddles. This reminded me of the medic loadout in Battlefield 2. But I much prefferd the single player over the multiplayer. I had alot of difficulty playing it, the maps are too big, the weapons are hard to use. I thought the best multiplayer was in Battlefield Vietnam, much more intense, I never felt lost or bored.
Plot: There is a plot, you are looking for a nuclear weapon from World War ll obtained by the Russians. The same characters are back, Hagrad, Sweetwater, Preston (playable character) and Sarge. The game will take you across the world and even briefly in World War ll. Overall, nothing to exciting, but the classic humor makes up for it.
Sound: These are easily some of the best sound effects I’ve heard in a game. The bullets, explosians, and the ringing you hear when a grenade blast near you are all excellent. This makes the game just that much more immersive. The effects make you feel like you are in a battle hearing this. The voice-acting also deserves credit. The cast does a great job and the script is hilarious. I loved the humor in this game, each level had something memerable said in the cutscene. The achivemnts you get for beating levels are cleverly named after the classic humor exclusive to the level you are playing.
Overall: Battlefield Bad Company 2 is another great edition to the Battlefield series. The destructible environments, shaking interface, realistic sound effects and intensity make this game much more imersive than the other Battlefields. Bad Company 2 isĀ a definite improvment over Battlefield Bad Company and I am excited for a third game and hope to see Bad Company 2 at the video game award shows in 2011!
