Halo Reach Review
The last and probably the best Halo game is released on September 14 2010. I have had the great pleasure of playing this game a couple days before it’s release. Bungie has announced that this is the last Halo game, Bungie wants to go out with a bang for the last Halo game.
Plot: Halo Reach is focused on the spark of the Human-Covenant war on planet Reach. These events are often referred to in other Halo games as a tragedy, the fall of a large Human planet. Reach’s campaign puts you in the shoes of the new member of Noble team, this character if customizable in more ways than ever! You and noble team are tasked with a variety of objectives as the game goes on. Noble teams members are made up of a variety of people, Jorge for example, is Hungarian, Kat is Russian, etc. Jorge is a great member of your squad, a large number of Reach’s farmers speak Hungarian. Speaking of Farmers, you will see a variety of civilians and animals indigenous to Reach. They make little difference to the game, but they are still there. Halo Reach is a mix of great characters and exciting events.
Gameplay: Halo Reach has everything from previous Halo games, campaign, matchmaking, custom games, Forge and firefight. Very big everything is improved, Firefight has the option of who attacks you, how long you play, what weapons you start out with, you can also make yourself take more/less damage, you can make yourself invincible or instantly killed. The Forge mode has the same options, in Forge all the mods from Halo 3 come standard with Halo Reach, you can now add natural items like rocks and have walls with buildings, there are also three physics systems so you can place things without making them look unrealistic. I also love the Forge world map, it has islands, cliffs, caves, plains, etc. The whole map is probably a good two or three miles of exploration and plenty of building options with a higher Forge budget.
There are also new weapons and armor abilities like sprinting and a jet pack. The new weapons consist of a needler rifle and a golf club with the effects of a gravity hammer. These new weapons are all really fun and add a lot to the gameplay.
Sound: One interesting thing about Halo Reach would be the large cast of Hungarian characters. Jorge, a Latin squad mate, speaks Hungarian as well as a lot of the farmers you will meet in Halo Reach’s campaign. The musical score is similar to Halo 3, very good sympathy and sound effects are same as well. But that is not a bad thing.
Overall: Halo Reach is an amazing game, it is better than any other Halo. This game just takes everything that was great about the old Halos, Halo’ campaign, Halo 2’s matchmaking, Halo 3’s forge and Halo 3: ODST’s firefight. Halo Reach will amaze you and I know I will be playing it for a long time, it is worth every PENNY!
